After successfully adding some management reporting and statistical dashboard analytics we were asked to build a prototype Technical Document Register which would become the basis for the bidding of a major new facility to be based overseas.
This turned into a major project and at its peak the system was capable of supporting over 200 design engineers and 50,000 documents with interfaces into external document repository tools such as Documentum. We incorporated a user defined set of key stages with payment milestones allowing the Project Controllers to be able to demonstrate progress and invoice the end client improving accountability and cash flow into the company. As part of the implementation we persuaded the client to allow us to incorporate an auditing function which would track usage of the system. This proved invaluable at times when several people were working on the same records.
